Micro irrigation: Low cost sustainable system

Microtubing based micro irrigation system developed indigenously by Engro Asahi Poly & Chemical Ltd has following distinct advantages:

1. Its a low pressure system and can function with very little variation under gravity flow from a overhead water source: a small dam, reservoir or and overhead water tank.

2. Unlike pressurized system it has no clogging issues and can operate under minimal filteration hence reducing filteration cost of the system.

3. It ensures water use efficiency upto 70% and Fertilizer use efficiency of upto 40% with a fertigation system.

4. Its components are easiliy available and locally made so there is no issue of its local availabiliy.

5. Its farmer friendly and hence could be easily maintained by farmers themselves.

6. It increases yield upto 60 % and the produce has better quality and longer shelf life.
